Web 2.0
A now commonly-used term, Web 2.0 is a concept that pushes functionality to the forefront of the internet experience.
Web 2.0 is a term which flows around quite regularly in the web design world. It is not any kind of upgrade, but instead, a new concept of the internet. In the early days of the world wide web, all one could do on the internet was surf around to websites, post on bulletin boards and check their e-mail. That was about the limit of the internet's functionality.
In the past 5-10 years, Web 2.0 has become embraced, the idea behind it being that the potential of the internet is much more than just a huge network of information. Modern programming languages allow web developers the ability to build websites that are not only informative, but also provide a useful experience. This is the concept of Web 2.0.
Want some examples of Web 2.0? Look no further than eBay, or Wikipedia, or Google Maps. Have you ever paid a bill online? Booked a flight? Found an old friend on MySpace or Facebook? Listened to an online radio station?
The web has become a place to not only share information but also to give people new experiences and to offer new ways of doing business, forming relationships and exploring the world around them.
Many business owners who have smaller websites might be a bit skeptical about what Web 2.0 can do for them, and how they can provide some form of experience for their visitors. We'd love to help. Give us a call at (559) 683-4030 and let us help you take your website to the next level.
